We are married!!

Hey everyone! We are back from our super-fast trip to MI for our wedding. It was so nice to get a break from the 95 degree weather, and see all of our family and "G-Rap" friends!

Our ceremony was beautiful, and simple! Thanks to Uncle Allan for the short ceremony, Kim for singing, Aunt Arlene for playing the piano with little direction, and a plethora of others for helping out! Eastern Ave. Christian Reformed Church recorded the ceremony on cassette tape (whats that?) but I converted it to MP3. The quality is no where near the DVD that Laura's uncles are creating; but it is a neat keep-sake. It can be listened to, and downloaded for free, here.

We have uploaded about 3,000 photos to Shutterfly--so far. If you visit www.shutterfly.com and use the username ianandlaura.belanger@gmail.com and password of malik, you can order what you wish, and have it delivered to your home!

Again, thank you to everyone that was so generous with their gifts, time and company.

Ian's first time at David's Bridal...

In my last blog I wrote about Scott and I's escapade to MW Tux. The experience was (for the most part) short, and quick. We were only held up by the lack of qualified people working at the time that we arrived.

Now, yesterday I went to the "other side" for only a brief moment, and my world quickly became a thunderstorm of confusion. The older man and his son sitting outside, who appeared to be waiting on their wives, was probably my sign.

Let me explain.

Laura and I went to Orlando to get lunch and visit Universal Studios, where we have season passes. It is a great time, and we never feel bad about only riding one ride (side note: the new "upgrades" to the ride Disaster, formally Earthquake, is simply amazing!) On the way to the Mall at Millennia, Laura mentioned that we needed a swatch of the color that we had chosen, and David's Bridal was across the street. After a long sigh, Laura told be me that the swatch was for my Mom, so I went ahead with the plan...and I was allowed to stay in the car!

Laura went in, and I parked. Seriously, I had no intension of going in; in fact I'm not sure what sane man would want to go in. I presume that they too felt it was not a place for "the men."

BEEP - BEEP Laura called out to the car, and was short a dollar. My luck had ran out-- I now had to enter a land of brides-to-be and prom-going women.

Immediately when I entered I got looks from all the ladies who were greeting the guests. Thank goodness my BlackBerry was glued to my ear as I frantically was looking for Laura, and I did not have to tell those ladies what I was up to. I certainly hope they did not think that I was there to try on dresses. :(

I am so glad that I did not have to dress shop. There are so many dresses-the racks were exploding with bright white fabrics, and lightning bolts of color splashed random hues throughout. I can only imagine the horror of having to pick out from those racks. For the woman it was like a human doll house, I presume. Did I mention how loud it was? "Ohhh" "Ahhh"

Now, in contrast, MW Tux was quite quiet, and the conversation with the other two guys in there about golf and $1 draft beer was much more delightful.

In closing, I'll stick to golf and my penguin suit. :)
